I'll try to come up with a compromise with the red hair Johann thing. I search vikings and stuff in google and all I saw was sort of orange, so I'll kinda compromise between complete red and a bit realistic orange.
Gaff was not my work really, heh. It was from Blizz's link from Hacktics but yeah, few edits here and there, less wrinkles and shadows. He's gonna be buddies with Agrias' father in Lesalia (Hence their acquaintance in FFT, from what I'm trying to build) until the two can't stand each other's opposite personalities.
Also, yeah I should start with the Ordallians. Gathering enough middle eastern sprite references for splicing is enough I think.
I'll also work on a few non-GMNPCs. You know, mere NPCs I mentioned in the other thread. A 'World Building' forum would be nice which contains the City Thread, GMNPCs, Map and this. Don't forget to get back to world building from time to time now. It's a stress reliever compared to the technical stuff.
I WAS going to make the Meliadoul sprite be one of the woman Romandan berserkers, complete with an edited dragonborn helmet I'll just reuse the face with a different body.

Added Valmafra for now. She's going to be the witch that was captured by the church and forced to work for them, linking her with FFT and how Delita saw her as just another person being used by the Church, which includes helping Bremondt turn Reis into a dragon, spying, etc among other things. She has a personality like Morrigan from DA, respects opportunists and go getters, like Delita. Also, you guys want to do something with a Judge? If not I'm giving the armor to Orlandeau.

Judges were, I think, one of the dumbest additions to the FFT franchise possible. And they don't even make that much sense in FF12; why is a judicial official responsible for leading armies? Does Archades just not have generals or something? It struck me as a bad parody of Judge Dredd.

Heh, well the sprite's a waste so he doesn't necessarily have to be a 'judge' per se. I was thinking a Dark Knight or something. Maybe with the yellow eyes practitioners of the dark apparently get.
I'll continue with the work on World Building and get suggestions from time to time. I'll leave the technical stuff to the others for now, but at least we get the ball rolling. Everyone's busy this week I think but we're making good ground from what I see.
But anyway, I was thinking the Witch of the Coven Class is just a female name for the Warlock Class. Less hassle. Also, I'm going with the Temple Knight (To go with the ____ Knight convention) for the class name and Knights Templar for the organization's name. Less confusion for the classes (Like how Beowulf and Aliste are Temple Knights but fall under the jurisdiction of Lionel.)

I'll start working on the Ordallians. What do you think of this? Passable as Khalid or a few edits (Of course, darker)? If no I'll use this guy for someone else, heh. Sorta going blind with the Ordallians.

It could work for Khalid with a darker complexion, sure. Not sure how often he'll be on-screen anyway.

Hehe, I say you need some practice, boy.
FFT's style takes time and practice to master, as does Fire Emblem style, but they are very different. I see you sometimes carry over FE techniques to FFT style, such as unnatural saturation (Rainbow hair) and shading styles like pillowing and anti-aliasing. This really breaks the style sometimes to the point of feeling plain wrong and out of FFT..
Others are well done however. Journeyman Thief Maven seems decent.
Let me suggest you this. If you head over to FFH's spriting section and post the separate portraits/one framers in your thread, especially the ones in progress, the members there and even myself can help you with critique, suggestions and even edits to your work. This works especially well if you post your progress on a piece over time, so members can nitpick and point out stuff to you before you finish it. There's no better way to get good at it than this, and I've seen people evolve their skill incredibly as time goes by.
Not to mention it is a really fun style to learn and pixel it out. Good luck
Peace, Smash

That's really the reason I joined FFH really, heh. Yeah I really need to work on my FFT spriting more.
The 'safest' spriting I do is probably merely splicing from existing FFT portraits. Right now I'm eager to just put some faces onto key characters in the game. I'll be sure to drop by when I'm done with everything.
Great to see you've found this site to your liking! And I'll be sure to note your critique (I've felt like I've just entered the masters now). Stick around especially for the roleplay! The more the merrier, and these guys are pretty good RPers, moreso now that we've focused more on it than the previous versions which practically ran with kingdoms, armies and such.
I've noticed pillowing on Maven as well so for a start I want to work on it if you can suggest stuff. Also, your sprites are definitely top-tier. I like the new ones. Really what Romandans should look like. It would be amazing to have your works contributed to the game, of course you're probably a busy man though.
Anyway, updated with another Nanten General, Baron Grimms. I was thinking they were a congregation of lords (Maquis Elmdore, Baron Grimms, etc) that all have these cheesy titles and they're all generals. Nice touch and more variety between the Hokuten and the Nanten, dont you think? Cant wait for players to join in these orders as well.

Eh, sorry, but I am not a roleplayer myself. My aims align more with a playable game at this moment's time. But sure enough, take whatever you want from any works of mine. I'd especially recommend you the skin and hair palletes I am using for my Gunvald Lords. Very Nordic. Also, the Eleanor portrait, the would-be main character of my project, has a pale skin pallete which I worked to perfect for a while. Take what you want, and always have your references around. The more your own portraits 'feel' as part of the crowd the better. ; )

When we launch the game, we have a special thanks section, and you'll definitely be in it. Also, your avatar is freakin' hardcore. I wish I hadn't lost all of my old sprites, I had a few hundred done that'd be perfect for stuff like this.
I also miss my Rodard. ;_;

Thanks Kablizzy. : ) I'll start working on the Ordallians. What do you think of this? Passable as Khalid or a few edits (Of course, darker)? If no I'll use this guy for someone else, heh. Sorta going blind with the Ordallians. Hmm.. Negative, no, fuck no. Don't go with the turbans or classic arab look. It is incredibly obvious; and not very creative/doesn't have that Ivalice charm to it. For facial features, refer to Al-Cid Margrace. If there's a perfect reference to go from it's him, at least in the facial features department, skin color and hair color. After all, Rozzaria seemed to feel like a desertic kind of place, makes sense the Ordallians would come from the same geographical location. For the clothing, I highly recommend you to create your own style by mixing very vague hints of arabs with designs the likes we see in FFXII. Think of the Dalmascans and the clothing they wore, in their dry enviroments, those were very unique designs. Now translate that into the characters. It would fit so much better in my opinion. I mean, doesn't anyone remember the architectural direction in FFXII, in where as you walked through the Barheim Passage you would see those arches inspired and painted after arab originals, yet had some sort of charm unique to the place? This is what im talking about, keeping the flavor yet on a new original dish. How this is to be applied to the general appearance of those coming form Ordallia is the real work here. Go wild with tatoos, capes, sigils, armor works, everything. You got a really tough design assignment here, hehe. I'll help if I can.

In his defense, I did describe the Emperor as wearing a comically oversized turban (granted, the POV was through the eyes of the Prince of Romanda, who is a sarcastic little git that continuously disappoints Johann and irritates everyone else). So that's more on me than Diethe.
I'd really like to see you get more actively involved in this project in lieu of your own. Romanda's a bit vague at this point (most of my energy's been directed at Ordallia) and we can definitely work in more of your ideas for it into the plot.
