Well, I like all the features as it is. Hrmm..what I do miss from invision boards however is the ability to code a sidebar to the left of everything where we could have additional important links portals/chatbox/topic highlights/character of the month even/and other general announcements.
Also, I guess we cant have images for signatures eh? hmm...and like Schwer said, yeah. Losing my work from posting a topic when I clicked a link and then back happened to me once.
I do like the page scroll feature in every topic.

There's a plugin for the sidebar, I just haven't looked in to implementing it. If enough people would like to see this feature I can definitely install it.

Nothing too special. An 'Important Announcements Tab' as well as a portal for links such as game rules, starting out, char sign up etc. Perhaps even a chat bar and a character of the month tab as well as affiliates and of course staff.

I'm fine with a side bar. As it is, the actual window I'm typing in only takes up about a third of my total screen space (maybe closer to half counting to the weird fan-like pattern to the sides of the box). This obviously isn't a forum that's designed to work with wide screen resolutions. Well, I got it. I'm not crazy about it (it works on an autosave principle, not "you typed text, therefore I'll put text to cache" principle). So consider this a vote for "when we can migrate to a new board, I want to migrate."

Hey, all. A few of us have been talking about getting v3 up and running and a few of us are willing to come out of retirement a bit and help. As I've been in touch with more people, this seems like the place where it'll stick. I'ma browse around a tad, and then see where we stand. If someone can fill me in a bit, that'd be rad. Where are we at in development? What's gone on thusfar? Who's staffing to date? Do we have unified goals?
Also, we've been in talks about getting the official boards and just running the game on those. Thoughts there? Lemme know. I'll be around most of the weekend for discussion, and we can ramp this thing up!

Beta: Fifty Years' War, during the Ordallian re-occupation of Zelamonia (circa Year 45). Full game: Fifty Years' War, during the Ordallian invasion of Zeltennia (circa Year 49). All major factions (of which there are 9, roughly one for every classic D&D alignment) will be run by GMNPCs. Additional minor factions (the Touten, for instance) will be present, but less significant. PCs will be encouraged to join the major factions. PCs may, over time (and as they level) rise in rank of factions until, ultimately, potentially taking control (especially if their boss dies somehow). Thus, PC factions will primarily be emerging factions. The general plot can be found in the Storyline thread. Basically, Ordallia's king dies without a male heir just prior to the Fifty Years' War. Ordallia isn't able to pick a single candidate (there being two competing cousins). Ivalice smells blood and, claiming the throne by dynastic relationship (they're technically the same dynasty), Ivalice invades. Ivalice nearly reaches Viura. About 25-30 years later, Romanda honors a marriage pact with Ordallia and invades Fovoham. Ivalice, now fighting on two fronts, is gradually pushed off balance as the Ordallians pick up speed. Romanda is driven off the continent (partly by domestic turmoil over succession, partly because the Ordallian assassins known as the Khamja, who defected due to a religious schism). Ordallia's counter-offensive stalls out at the Hokuten are able to bring their full forces to bear. Ordallia fails to reoccupy Zelamonia. Famines and strategic parity force a stalemate. Around Year 45, Romanda jumps back into the fray and the tenuous stalemate shatters. Ordallia throws its full weight into the war (calling in additional forces from out east). Ivalice's front starts to buckle. Ordallia exploits this with a solid offensive into Zelamonia, capturing it, and then promptly driving on (and capturing) Sal Ghidos. Shortly thereafter, with Zeltennia and Riovanes both under siege, the full game opens. Romanda is primarily a Nordic location. It has lots of Scandinavian influences (right down to the polytheism) and more than a few viking influences. Ordallia is mostly modeled after the various Arabic cultures during the early caliphates (certain regions have heavier influences; Viura has a few Turkish influences, Kharkhonia has strong Berber influences, Altenia has some Balkan influences, Zelamonia has Slavic influences). There's even a bit of Central Asian influences. Ivalice is more or less as you'd expect. For the sake of diversity, Barbaneth is a real hard ass and firmly Lawful Evil. It didn't make any sense to have two Lawful Good paladins (Barbaneth and TG Cid). That's the gist so far.

Sweet. I adore the D&D alignment types, and I'd also like to do MBTI types for characters (But that's tertiary to the rest of this).
So, two more questions, I suppose: Who do we have staffing for sure?
Secondly, can we get the keys to the kingdom, so to speak? I would prefer to do this with the HoI name and on the official site, but if we have to do it elsewhere, Ish and I can lay a pretty strong claim to the HoI name anyway. We've both been head Admin at a point, and both been around since pretty much the beginning.
I'd also like permission to put up a topic on goals so I can make sure I'm in-line with everyone else on what we want this to be.

I don't really do MBTI. Rather, I discovery write my characters. I didn't make that travelogue, for instance, expecting the prince to sit there and mock the Emperor's fashion. But if you guys want to use that, I have no objections. It's just not my thing.
As for staffing, I'll probably apply for RM or GM at some point. Other than that, we have our very own leatherworker (4srs) as GM and Ilium. That's all that's confirmed so far. Plus you and Ishy, I guess. And since you're both old hands, I wouldn't be surprised if we got some veterans interested in the project.
There's been some talk on making a bid on the actual HoI forum, but the consensus (such as it was) that we'd make a better case after a successful beta. But that might not be necessary if we have old admins vouching for us.

Aye. I've found MBTI helps me, but just a suggestion. At the very least, my name will be attached to the project, if it will help get stuff done more easily. As far as me Adminning / GMing / RPing, dunno if I'll have the time to invest in that, but again, if it helps, I'm all in as much as you guys need.
I'd like to work in the background as an advisor, and kinda give you guys info on what we found during our years of development, the things we decided were best and why, and hopefully, make the development process for you guys easier. I may also want to Admin a bit during development and see through past the beta to launch, if you guys'd have me.

Yeah, Proboards Support literally just said that this is not a feature, and that if you want a good alternative, copy and paste to Notepad. This coming from an Admin. v5 has been completely underwhelming. I enjoyed how open the html was in v4.5, but they took that away in v5 in favor of clunky css and noob-friendly plug in features. Update: Did you not get this message?

I'm excited you chose to join us and bring your knowledge and expertise along with. Having you on board will prove to be very beneficial for the game, as you already know a lot about what will work and what might not. Whatever role you'd like to play here would be fine by me, get in touch with me if you're interested in Administrating, or if you have any ideas on who to bring in as staff. Consider this a vote for migration over to Heroes of Ivalice as well. As I pointed out in our previous discussion, I would have liked to petition for control of that forum if our beta proved successful. With your influence, perhaps we can make that happen sooner.

A small controlled and organized group of beta testers for the beta before splashing back into HoI is a good idea as well, but yeah I approve of the HoI bid, as long as we have everything fixed. For now I guess we come up with our system, see how it goes as a few of it is experimental and when we get out of beta we go HoI?
As for me, I'll generally be helping out with the building blocks as well as graphics. Not sure if I'd staff myself but I'll generously help out.

Update: Did you not get this message? Nope. And oh my god at that image's "url." It looks like someone vomited machine code on my screen. Edit: Deleted because it was stretching the screen.

I agree with Diethe about the successful beta - I'll be around absolutely as much as I can to ensure that this goes smoothly and successfully! It'll take me a bit to get re-acquainted with everything, but I'll be around a lot today and tomorrow, working on getting acclimated.
