Like an avatar elemental bender? Interesting. You planning to come up with a culture/setting/backdrop for it? It could go on its own as a lifestyle or be a geographical/cultural thing like an american indians origin similar to the Orient origin of the samurai and ninja.

I have never seen/read Avatar, so I really have no idea if there are any similarities (my knowledge of the subject begins and ends with "bald kid manipulates elements").
But I'm not overly keen to develop a culture around a single class, no. Bear in mind, doing so would basically oblige me to do the exact same thing for every other class, which is just a hassle I don't want to deal with. I'm fine having classes be from specific locations (Geomancer from Jahara, Ninja/Samurai from the Orient, Knight/Squire from Ivalice, Lancer from Romanda, Spellsword from Zelamonia, etc.), but I'm not going to develop miniature cultures around single classes. I'll leave that up to the players.

Very rough preview of the HOI v3 - Eastern Expansion. Personally I'd like to keep it for suspense for now. I'll coordinate with Schwer. Remember, there's also Loar to the west of Ivalice.

Isn't this version of the map the more canonically correct one?

There is no 'canonically correct' map linking Dalmasca to Ivalice. It simply doesn't exist.
The eastern half of this map is derived (in part; Diethe changed some stuff) from my vague sketches on eastern Ordallia (Rozarria, centered around that really big river; Jahara, centered around that south-central landmass; modern Damlasca and Archades in the northeast; and the Orient in the southeast). It's likely to just be flavor.

Lol. The Final Fantasy Wikia specifically states: Erroneous Ivalice map as often assembled by fans. How can they state it is erroneous in the first place, I wonder.

Well, that's really where I based my map from. Except for the fact that the right map is pre-cataclysm and the left one is post cataclysm. If ever there was a correct combination it would be your right map and the left map is FFTA2's Ordallia.

Does the Lionel chunk of land not resemble the chunk in which Dalmasca is? FFT's own Ordallia's location in the 'east' would be quite contradictory then. Considering that the Kingdoms in the East reffered in the original FFT as Ordallia could actually be the rest of the continent of Valendia.. And if this were true, Goug city and theairship graveyard could be Dalmasca's original position.

Pre-cataclysm Map. The real connector between the two is Mog-controlled Goug and post-cataclysm Goug. The landmass looks the same as well. (That Nelveska Part, the Goug Island, Murond being sort of intact.) The region up top fits Romanda with the region below it gone. Compare this to the map we're making. The tip of Ordallia and north is basically in smithereens. Of course, there's still Loar to consider but that's for another time. So yeah. Ordallia's pretty much ripped apart in that northern part.

You mean flip the map with Ordallia in the west, Romanda (Valendia) in the northeast and Ivalice where Dalmasca is? It has similarities but that's it. Dunno.
Goug's pretty much a pre-cataclysm establishment though, with Mogs ruling it.
Also, great Ordallian themed portrait, as always.

Yeah, it's just a similarity, with lore contradictions.
Your map is beautiful.
